Mr. Abbas Kanneh, deliver a keynote speech on
Moussadou
The task at hand on will not be easy. But our forefathers
mandated us to help Moussadou from a
town in which the majority lived with little hope,
to one in which they can get good education, clean
water and health care, with a sense of self-esteem
and confidence in the future.
The cornerstone of
building a better life of opportunity, freedom and
prosperity is the Reconstruction and Development Programme.
This needs unity of purpose. It needs in
action. It requires us all to work together to bring
an end to division, an end to suspicion and build a
strong organization in our diversity that can
deliver to Moussadou and it’s friends.
The people of Moussadou have spoken, they
need our help now them before. They want change! And
change is what they will get. Our plan is to
continue what our forefathers started. As many of
you know Moussadou was call the Capital of the
Western Mandingoes in 1870 by Benjamin Anderson. But
today Moussadou is loose that title because of our
selfishness. Let us go back and reflex our mind to
the great men like King Vomfee Dolley, Layee
Maurcesala Kourouma, Layee Amadu Kante, Layee Musa
Kourouma, Ayouba Sesay, Layee Foday Dore, Layee
Amadu Kanneh and many others who give their wealth
to the development of Moussadou. The building of the
beautify Masjid that is a landmark in the region was
initiated by them. Also what about the student that
refuses to do vacation job but scarifies his life
for his community by going to Moussadou and her
rounding town to help cleaning of the town. They did
their parts but what can you and I tell the next
generation that we did to maintain the rich culture
of Moussadou. The answer to that is in your hand
now. I do know that every body in this hall will not
like to be called a failure. And we will not fail
the next generation if we stand together to work for
a common goal for our people. We do have the
resources and man power today so let stand up to
task. We will tackle the widespread poverty so
pervasive among the majority of our people. By
encouraging investors and the NGO to support job
creating projects in which farming will play a
central role we will try to change Moussadou from
depending on importer rice and other food products
to one that exports rice and other food products
through beneficiation.
To raise Moussadou and its people from this
position will require determination and effort. As
an organization, the AOMINA & ADAMO will create a
legal framework that will assist, rather than
impede, the awesome task of reconstruction and
development of our battered society.
While we are and shall remain fully
committed to the spirit of an organization for
national unity, we are determined to initiate and
bring about the change that our mandate from the
forefathers demands.
We place our vision of a new hope for
Moussadou on the table not as conquerors,
prescribing to the conquered. We speak as fellow
members to heal the wounds of the past with the
intent of constructing a new order based on justice
and unity for all.
This is the challenge that faces all
Moussadou and friends today, and it is one to which
I am certain we will all rise.
